Are Cavity-Proof Teeth in Your Future?

Someday teeth may be cavity-proof. Researchers from Yale University and Chile’s University of Santiago have found a molecule that will kill certain bacteria in the mouth, effectively ending cavities.1 This revolutionary product is called Keep 32 in honor of the 32 teeth in a human mouth– and the idea that you want to keep all of them.

Early studies of this molecule show that it can eliminate Streptococcus mutans, the bacteria that causes cavities in the mouth. Scientists believe a 60-second use of Keep 32 will provide hours of protection, making your teeth cavity-proof – at least for a little while.1

The Keep 32 molecule can be mixed with dental-care products like mouthwash and toothpaste. What’s even more interesting, however, is that it can also be mixed with certain foods.1 Tests are under way to see how effective it is when used in candy and chewing gum.1

A lot of work must be done before these products are on the market. In the meantime, keep brushing twice a day for two minutes each time and floss at least once.2 There’s no substitute for good oral health!
