April’s Mouth-Friendly Recipe 2014

Pita Pizzas


  • 2 mini whole-wheat pita pockets, split in half to make two circles
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • Toppings of your choice, such as mushrooms, tomatoes, or peppers
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano


Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Place the pita pockets on a baking sheet and bake for two minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and spread 1 tbsp tomato sauce on each pita half, leaving a border of ¼” around the edge. Then top with 2 tbsp mozzarella, 2 tsp Parmesan cheese, and the veggies of your choice. Finish it off with a pinch of oregano and return to the oven until the cheese is melted and beginning to brown, or about five minutes. Enjoy!
